45North champions female-identifying and non-binary artists theatre productions.
Our productions tour both nationally and internationally. 45North also produce exciting immersive theatrical events.
We believe in championing the careers of emerging female-identifying and non-binary artists on and off the stage. This is how we will achieve our pledge of 75% representation for these groups in 45North.
Please watch this space and our Twitter account for more information about how we are changing and expanding our support for artists in 2021 and beyond.
From 2021, 45North will run two seed commission schemes per year. Each scheme will focus on an underrepresented group of artists and lead to the commissioning of 3 theatre-makers to develop the beginnings of an idea across a 6 weeks period, or what we call a ‘0.5 draft’.
Each commission will receive a fee of £1000, plus access to a week’s rehearsal space, and 15 hours of mentorship from the commission curator & facilitator. The curator & facilitator will change with every scheme and always be an artist from the underrepresented group we are supporting at that time.
45North is proud to announce the second of their 2021 seed commissions for theatre-makers.

We are offering 3 seed commissions to artists from South Asian communities who are looking to develop an idea for live theatre.
This scheme will be curated with and facilitated by Atri Banerjee and the 3 artists will receive:
We are keen to hear from theatre-makers, writers, devisors, directors, and designers. This does not have to be a text-based seed commission!
The artists commissioned will be asked to work on their idea part-time across 6-weeks through November - January, with the aim of creating what we call a 0.5 draft by the end of the scheme.
This scheme is open to any South Asian artists, no matter their theatre background or experience.
We’ve made this term up!
For us, a 0.5 draft will vary from piece to piece, but we would like the draft to show the general shape of the show giving an idea of pace, form, style, character and dialogue (where needed!)
